Rx Grazing
Prescription (Rx) Grazing is the application of livestock grazing at a specified season, duration, and intensity to accomplish specific vegetation management goals. Hawai'i is different because of a lack of seasons and a need for year-round vegetation management.
Fire Management
Rx Grazing effectively reduces fuel loads of grasses and shrubs, reducing the severity and extent of wildfires. Specific treatment types can be applied by utilizing a variety of livestock species in addition to sheep, including goats and cattle, each having differing dietary and grazing behaviors.

Ecological Enhancement
Our services support fire-safe, fire-ready communities and are climate-beneficial. We work to provide a sustainable and effective alternative to fire prevention by using livestock. Using grazing livestock helps to improve the aina by promoting soil health, biodiversity, healthy watershed function, native habitat enhancement, and water retention.

Prescription Grazing
We use electric or existing secured fences to guide the animals to graze in the desired locations. Depending on location size, vegetation type, and growth, we can determine which species (or combination of species), stocking density (number of livestock, and grazing duration. These and other information help us to create the Prescription (Rx) for your grazing plan.
